We design and build digital signage at our workshop in Welshpool, Perth, and our own team installs it across WA and the rest of Australia. That means indoor LED displays, LED poster screens, video walls and outdoor screens. You change what they show from your phone, a computer or online, and we show you how before we leave.
Digital signage is a screen that shows messages, photos and video you can change at any time. It does the job of a poster, a menu board or a printed banner, except you update it from a phone or laptop instead of paying for a reprint.
Most digital signage displays are either LCD panels or LED screens. An LCD is a single panel, much like a TV. An LED screen is built from cabinets of small LED lights, so it can be made to any size and, outdoors, can be bright enough for direct sun. We build LED digital signs, from countertop displays to feature walls and roadside screens.
Indoor displays and LED poster screens
Indoor LED displays suit shop windows, counters, reception areas, church halls, clubrooms and school libraries. They show words, images, video and animation, and you can change them from any device in seconds.
LED poster screens take the place of a printed poster:
AP2 indoor poster screens: a slim digital poster for shopfronts and shopping centres. Several can join into one big screen.
AP1 outdoor poster screens: a free-standing digital poster for busy places such as shopping centres, stations and airports.
A video wall is one large picture made from LED panels joined together, with no frames breaking up the image. Our FA3 panels are slim at 42 mm and mount straight onto a wall, for shops, churches and meeting rooms. For very close viewing, in meeting rooms, TV studios and control rooms, the COB Ultra series gives very fine detail.
Video walls work well in foyers, halls and clubrooms. We built two full colour LED video walls for a Tasmanian Government office.
Outdoor digital signage in Perth has to cope with full sun, wind, heavy rain and summer heat, and so does most of Australia. Our FA2 outdoor series is:
sealed to IP68 against dust and heavy rain
up to 10,000 nits bright, for direct sun
fanless, and runs without air conditioning up to 55 degrees
made in pixel pitches from P3.9 to P10
For screens people see up close, such as shopfront ads, the OA2 series gives finer detail and stays clear in direct sun. Outdoor screens go on pylon signs, building walls, entry statements and LED billboards. The full colour LED sign at Ballajura Community College in Perth is one of ours.
A digital menu board lets a cafe or restaurant switch from breakfast to lunch to dinner without reprinting a thing. Set the times once and the menu changes on its own, or update an item from your phone in the middle of service. Our guide to digital menu boards for cafes and restaurants has more ideas.
Software and scheduling
We set up the digital signage software when we install your screen, in Perth or anywhere in Australia, and show you how it works. The program you use depends on the controller inside the screen:
NovaStar screens: ViPlex Express on a computer, or VNNOX online
HD screens: the LedArt app on your phone, or LED-Cloud online
You can play photos and video, schedule content by time of day and change a message whenever you need to, from a phone, tablet or laptop. The programs are on our Downloads page, along with HDPlayer and NovaLCT. Step by step guides for each program are on Brochures and guides. If you get stuck, talk to us about your software.
Where digital signage is used
Digital signs work for most organisations. Each industry below has its own page with sign ideas:
Pixel pitch is the gap between the lights, in millimetres. As a rough rule, the pitch in millimetres is about the distance in metres from which the picture looks smooth, so a P4 screen looks smooth from about 4 metres. A shop window or foyer needs a small pitch. A roadside screen can use a larger one.
The pixel pitch planner shows a shop ad, a photo or a scoreboard on a 2 x 1, 3 x 2 or 5 x 4 m sign at pitches from P2.5 to P16, and pixel pitch explained covers the detail.
Hire or buy
Buy a screen outright, or spread the cost with Ledge Finance. Warranties run from 1 to 5 years, depending on the product.
Every screen is designed, built and tested at our Welshpool workshop. Our own team installs it in Perth, in regional WA or interstate, then shows you how to run it. If the screen needs council or planning approval, we help with the application at no extra cost, and that help is the same interstate as it is in WA. Find your city on areas we serve.
