VNNOX is NovaStar’s website for updating an LED sign from anywhere, in a normal web browser. As long as your sign is online, you can change the message from the office, from home or from another site. This guide covers logging in on the right server, building content and publishing it. For the version with pictures, download our VNNOX quick guide.
Log in on the Australian server
This is the step that trips most people up.
- Go to en.vnnox.com, find the VNNOX Media card and click LOGIN.
- Pick the server node Australia. China is picked by default, so check this.
- Use the Password tab, tick the Terms box, complete the puzzle check, and enter the code sent to your email or phone if it asks.
- The first time, choose VNNOX Standard.
Bookmark au.vnnox.com to go straight to the Australian login page. Don’t use Sign up now: if your sign came from us, your account comes from us.
Upload your pictures and video
Open Content and choose Upload Media. VNNOX takes:
- video: MP4, AVI, FLV, WMV and MOV (H.264 MP4 plays best);
- images: JPG, PNG, BMP and GIF;
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files, and MP3 for background audio.
Keep videos under 3 GB and images under 100 MB. The library holds 5 GB. Very small files (under 48 x 48 pixels) are rejected, and very large ones are converted.
Build a solution
VNNOX calls a set of content a solution.
- Open Solutions, click New Solution and choose a regular solution.
- Give it a name and enter your sign’s exact resolution.
- Add images, video or text. Add more pages for a slideshow.
- Click Preview, then Save.
Each page can have a validity range, so it stops playing after an end date, a number of times to play, and its own schedule.
Publish it to your sign
In Solutions, click Publish, tick your sign and click OK. If your sign is offline, it gets the solution as soon as it is back online.
Schedule what plays and when
For a full schedule, open Schedule, click Create, choose a regular-screen schedule, add your solution, then use the Calendar View to set when it repeats, the times and the dates, and publish. Two things to know:
- If Repeat is set to Never, the date must be today or within the next seven days.
- Where two blocks overlap, the one furthest left plays.
Brightness and blackout
Open Control, then Brightness Control, select your sign, set the level and click Apply. You can schedule the brightness too, for example dimmer at night. Screen Status Control blanks the sign while the power stays on. To check what is playing right now, open Screens, then Screen List, and use Capture.
Quick fixes
- Can’t log in: check the Australia node, the Password tab and the Terms box, or use Password Reset.
- The code isn’t arriving: check your junk mail.
- The sign shows as offline: check its power and internet connection.
- The picture is stretched: make the solution’s resolution match the sign.
- A video won’t play: re-save it as an H.264 MP4.
- The sign is black but online: set the screen status back to Normal.
