Every scoreboard we build is designed to suit the ground and the club’s budget, so there’s no single price. A portable board for junior netball and a full colour screen built into a footy ground are very different jobs. These are the choices that make the difference, so you can plan a board that suits your club and compare quotes properly.
How far away people watch from
Start with the ground. Spectators on the far side of an oval are a long way from the board, so the numbers need to be big. A court or a small pitch needs a much smaller board. For most club scoreboards seen from across a ground, a P10 pitch works well. Our pixel pitch planner shows how a scoreboard looks at different sizes and distances.
Single colour or full colour
Single colour boards show clear red scores and messages, at a lower cost than full colour. Full colour adds team logos, photos and video, so the board can show sponsor ads during breaks.
Portable, trailer or built in
Portable scoreboards roll out on game day and pack away after, which suits shared grounds and school ovals. Trailer scoreboards sit on their own trailer, for clubs that move between venues. Built-in scoreboards stay up all season and can be much bigger, like the 4 x 5 m full colour screen at Calingiri Sporting Club. A built-in board also needs a structure or a wall to go on, and power where it stands. Read portable or built-in scoreboard?
What the board needs to show
A cricket board needs runs, wickets and overs. A footy board needs goals, behinds and totals. Basketball and hockey need a shot clock. The more a board has to show at once, the bigger it may need to be. We supply and install the siren too. Our pages on AFL scoreboards, cricket scoreboards, basketball and netball scoreboards and soccer, rugby and hockey scoreboards show what each sport needs.
Basic or Advanced software
Basic, the iCatcher Scoreboard app, runs a board from a phone or tablet: the score, the clock and your sponsors, with a shot clock for basketball and hockey. It’s the budget-friendly way onto an LED scoreboard. Advanced, Olympyx, is our own software for full colour screens, installed on the scoreboard. It runs the whole game from a tablet, phone or laptop, with an automatic siren, sponsor videos, screen mirroring and movie nights.

Installation and training
We install scoreboards anywhere in Australia, and we train your volunteers to run them. For a built-in board, photos of the spot help us plan the structure and the power. Warranties run from 1 to 5 years, depending on the product.
Approvals
A fixed scoreboard may need council approval. We help with the application at no extra cost, and our state by state guide to LED sign approval covers the rules.
Ways clubs pay for a scoreboard
- Grants. A few grant programs fund scoreboards. See scoreboard grants for sports clubs.
- Sponsors. A full colour board can play sponsor promos and video at every break.
- Finance. Spread the cost with Ledge Finance and start using the board straight away.
- Hire. For a carnival or a tournament in Perth and WA, you can hire a portable scoreboard instead. Read should you buy or hire an LED scoreboard?
Getting a quote
Tell us your sport, your ground and roughly where the board will go, with a few photos if you can. We’ll suggest a size and send a drawing and a free quote. Call Aaron on 0416 053 335 or the office on (08) 9335 7944, or use our contact page. Clubs in other states can see our scoreboard pages for Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
