Our Perth team designed and installed full colour LED message boards for the Newbay Hotel in Melbourne as part of its facade upgrade. The brief was easy to say and harder to deliver: signs on the street frontage that road and foot traffic could see from every direction around the hotel’s main entrance.
The brief
The hotel’s old static signs were rusty and tired. They did nothing for the look of the building, and nothing for trade. The owners wanted signs that suited the new facade, could show more than words, and could be changed whenever the hotel had something new to tell people.
What we built
We designed several full colour LED message boards and fitted them to more than one wall of the hotel, so there is a sign facing each approach. Full colour lets the hotel show photos and video as well as text, so a function room, a meal or an upcoming event looks the way it does in real life.
The install
Fitting signs to an existing building always brings surprises, and this job had a few tricky moments on the day. Our team worked through them, and the whole project was finished in five weeks.
How do hotel staff change the messages?
Hotel staff change the messages from a laptop or a phone, so the boards can be updated as often as they like. As Aaron Papandroulakis from iCatcher puts it: “If you can turn on a computer, you can operate the message boards.”
The result
After the new boards went up, the hotel saw more function bookings and more walk-in customers, and its turnover improved. The signs replaced a tired frontage with one people notice from the street, day and night.
Built in Perth, installed interstate
