Scoreboard hire
Scoreboard hire in Perth and WA
Hire a portable LED scoreboard for a carnival, a tournament or a school sports day. Our hire boards sit on wheels, so they roll out beside the oval or court and pack away after. For scoreboard hire in Perth and across WA, we deliver the board, set it up and show your team how to run it from a phone or tablet.
What you can hire
For electronic scoreboard hire, we have portable LED scoreboards on wheels in single colour or full colour. A portable board shows the scores, the game clock and team names, with scrolling messages and space for sponsors between plays.
- Single colour: clear red scores and messages, at a lower cost than full colour
- Full colour: adds photos and video, so the board can show team logos and sponsor ads at the breaks
If you only need the score and the clock, single colour does the job. If sponsors helped pay for the carnival, full colour puts their logos on the board between games. Tell us the sport and roughly how far the crowd will be from the board, and we will suggest the one that suits.
Our scoreboards work indoors and outdoors, so the same kind of board can sit beside a footy oval or at the end of a basketball court.
When to hire
Carnivals, tournaments and sports days
To hire a scoreboard for a carnival, tell us the date, the sport and the ground, and we will suggest a portable scoreboard. A hire board suits:
- Carnivals: junior and senior lightning carnivals for footy, netball, soccer and hockey
- Tournaments: basketball, netball and futsal, where every game needs a clock
- School sports days: scores for the games, and notices between events in Sign Mode
- A single season: a ground that needs a board for one season only
- A trial before buying: a few games on your own ground before you commit to a board of your own
For parking and directions at the same event, see LED sign hire.
Running the scoreboard
There are two ways to run a board, and both work from a phone or tablet. We tell you which one your hire board uses, and you can try both in your browser before the day.
Basic: the iCatcher Scoreboard app
Score from your phone with the iCatcher Scoreboard app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Ten sports are built in: AFL, soccer, cricket, rugby, hockey, basketball, netball, volleyball, futsal and water polo, with a shot clock for basketball and hockey. Load up to 8 sponsor ads per upload, set the brightness by hand or on a schedule, or switch to Sign Mode and use the board for your own messages. Basic works with single colour and full colour boards.
Advanced: Olympyx
Olympyx is our own software for full colour boards. It runs on the scoreboard, and you control the whole game from a tablet, phone or laptop in a web browser. The siren sounds by itself at 0:00 and the next quarter loads. Nine sports are built in (Aussie Rules, soccer, netball, basketball, hockey, rugby league, rugby union, baseball and cricket), plus a general mode for virtually any other sport.
The board runs its own Wi-Fi network, so the ground needs no internet. It boots straight to the scoreboard and loses nothing in a power cut.
Delivery
Delivery, set-up and training
We deliver hire scoreboards across Perth and WA. We bring the board to your ground, set it up and show your volunteers how to run it before the first game, then collect it when you are done. For regional WA, let us know early so we can plan the trip.
Think about the sun when you pick the spot. Put the board where most people gather, and check where the sun will sit for most of the day, so nobody is squinting into it to read the score.
What to tell us when you book
- The date or dates, and the start and finish times
- The sport, or each sport if the carnival has more than one
- The ground or venue address, and where the board can stand
- Who will run it, and on a phone or a tablet
- Team names, and sponsor logos if you are hiring a full colour board
Hire or buy
Hire or buy
Hiring suits a one-off carnival, a single season or a trial. If your club needs a board most weeks of the year, buying often works out better, and finance through Ledge Finance spreads the cost. We can price both so you can compare.
Dianella Morley AFC uses a full colour scoreboard on wheels running Olympyx, and Aquinas College uses mobile scoreboards. A scoreboard you buy comes with a warranty of 1 to 5 years, depending on the product. Read should you buy or hire an LED scoreboard and portable or built-in scoreboard to weigh it up.
